Aultrawines & Vinyl #1

Welcome to Aultrawines & Vinyl episode #1 a new series showcasing my favourite #wines and #vinyls 🎧🎵

The Wine:
This is the 2008 @podereleripi Lupe e Sirene Riserva, #brunellodimontalcino from the small village of Montalcino in Tuscany, Italy. Recently secured from a private collection in Zurich, Switzerland.
This is the oldest Riserva I have had the pleasure of tasting from Podere le Ripi, a glass from coravin tonight to preserve the bottle for other moments in time. A Riserva must spend 6 years aging before release and only the very best grapes are selected. It is rich and classic, with dark cherries, some spice and a wonderful, memorable nose. Extremely difficult to find at this age, I have just this last bottle and would recommend this producer to anyone who is looking to try Brunello di Montalcino, it is quite possible to get a more recent 2015/2016. As always, great on its own or with pizza! Rating: AW96 🍷🇮🇹

The Vinyl:
This is the 4th studio album from @kingsofconvenience “Peace or Love” released in 2021 from the brilliant Norwegian duo. I have been very fortunate to see them play this album live, along with their other amazing work, a number of times over the years and three times in the last few. A fond memory last summer in Florence, Italy after a bottle of Brunello, cooling down from an earlier 40 degrees in the heat wave, at the Anfiteatro Ernesto De Pascale, which is an old open air theatre in a beautiful park to the west of the city.
The album is classicly Kings of Convenience with every single song deserving its place. I always like to wonder to myself which song was written by Erland or Eirik, the beautiful layering of guitars and their vocal harmonies. They will always be one of my very favourite ever bands.

Favourite tracks: Rumours, Comb My Hair, Catholic Country (with Feist)
